What is the apprenticeship levy?

Over £3.5 billion of Levy funds are returned to the Treasury unused each year

Over 350,000 apprenticeships have been funded via transfers since 2019

If your organisation pays the Apprenticeship Levy, you’re already investing in workforce development. Your Levy funds can be used to train existing employees, recruit new apprentices, or if you have unused funds, support apprenticeship opportunities within other organisations through Levy transfers.

Our funding specialists help you maximise your investment and ensure your Levy is used effectively.

How Levy funding works

  • Levy-paying employers contribute 0.5% of their annual payroll above £3 million through PAYE
  • Levy funds can be used to pay for apprenticeship training and assessment
  • Funds expire after 12 months if they are not used

If your Levy funds are exhausted, additional government funding may still be available depending on the apprentice’s age and current funding rules.

How can we support you with your Levy funding?

  • Check your Levy balance
  • Allocate funds correctly
