Employer Engagement in Apprenticeships

Working closely with Employers

.

Working closely with our employers at every stage of the planning, development and delivery of our Apprenticeships is essential to ensure a high-quality learning experience that meets the recruitment and training needs of both you and your apprentices (learners).

To achieve this, we have developed our Employer Engagement in Apprenticeships Policy.

This Policy sets out:

  • How t2 group engages with employers and their potential learners, to raise awareness and promote the benefits of Apprenticeships
  • An overview of the entire employer end-to-end journey, detailing the specific requirements of engagement once a learner has enrolled in a fully joined-up approach to delivery. This is to ensure we can help our employers meet their recruitment and training needs and ensure that learners successfully develop the required sector knowledge, skills, and behaviours to enable them to be competent in their roles and successfully prepare them for their next steps in education and/or employment.

In the Policy we outline how we obtain feedback from employers against a range of quality indicators.

We obtain this feedback in two ways:

Teaching and Learning Reviews (TLRs)

.

When your learner has attended a TLR you will be sent a copy for you to sign by logging into our digital learning system I Learn. You will be required to provide feedback against the Intent, Implementation, and Impact of the learning programme.

Off-the-job training

.

Off-the-job training is a key requirement of each Apprenticeship programme.

Your dedicated tutor will work closely with you at the outset and throughout the programme to identify, plan and review the types of off-the-job training that are suitable. This will be closely monitored and reviewed at each Teaching and Learning Review (TLR) to ensure it meets the funding requirements of the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA).

The following infographic is a guide for you about what counts as off-the-job training.

How to determine what off-the-job training is

If you would like to find out more about off-the-job training below is a link to a webinar by the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) in relation to off-the-job training:

*Please be aware that from the 1 August 2022, since this webinar was produced the 20% off-the-job training requirement for all Apprenticeships has been amended so the maximum off-the-job hours that would be expected is an average of six hours per week across the Apprentice’s time on their programme. It means Apprentices who work more than 30 hours per week can now spend less than 20% of their time doing off-the-job training. The ESFA has stated that this move, part of a package of changes to Apprenticeships, ‘must not dilute the existing requirement, but provide the right level of training to every Apprentice’.
