Success Story

Growing through learning with the Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship

How the Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship helped Heather Leak develop her skills, grow in confidence, and progress into a Deputy Manager role

Heather Leak, Deputy Manager at Prosperity Housing Group, completed the Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship in April 2026.

Wanting to develop her skills and knowledge within the sector, Heather fully embraced the programme and quickly demonstrated a strong commitment to learning and progression throughout her journey.

She rated every aspect of her apprenticeship experience 10/10, including her confidence growth, assessor support, career impact, and overall satisfaction with t2 group.

“Gaining new skills and knowledge through the programme led to my promotion.”

Developing confidence and leadership skills

Throughout the apprenticeship, Heather consistently challenged herself and showed a genuine passion for learning. As her role developed during the programme, she progressed into a Deputy Manager position, allowing her learning journey to evolve alongside her growing responsibilities.

The programme helped strengthen her leadership skills, build confidence in supporting others, and deepen her understanding of high-quality care practice.

Heather’s proudest achievement was seeing how her learning directly supported her progression into management.

Her advice to anyone considering the programme?

“It is extremely beneficial.”

The support behind the success

Heather’s Assessor, Karen Morton, Personal Development Manager, supported her through a combination of Teams sessions and onsite visits, adapting delivery as Heather progressed within her role.

As Heather stepped into management responsibilities, her optional units were updated to better reflect her development and leadership pathway, helping ensure the programme remained relevant to her role and ambitions.

Karen shared:

“Heather was very committed and always wanted to learn more. Her progression throughout the programme was excellent, and she completed ahead of schedule”

Karen also highlighted Heather’s willingness to challenge herself and continuously build on her knowledge:

“Heather loved to be challenged and was always eager to develop further. Seeing learners progress into leadership roles and grow in confidence is one of the most rewarding parts of supporting apprenticeships.”

Why the Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship works

The programme supports learners to build strong foundations in care practice while developing the confidence, communication, and leadership skills needed to progress within the sector.

For Heather, the apprenticeship not only strengthened her existing knowledge, but also helped prepare her for leadership responsibilities and career progression.

Her journey highlights how apprenticeships can create clear development pathways within adult care, helping learners grow while supporting organisations to develop confident and capable teams.

At t2 group, we’re proud to support learners like Heather to build rewarding careers and progress within the care sector.
