Meet Peter, Care Home Director at Home and Community Care Ltd

Day two of National Apprenticeship Week, and it’s the perfect time to celebrate the hard work, dedication, and achievements of all learners. At t2 group, we’re proud to support you on your journey, helping you develop the skills and experience you need for a successful career.

This week is about recognising the value of apprenticeships and the vital role they play in shaping the future of industries across the country. Whether you’re just starting out or advancing in your career, we’re here to cheer you on every step of the way!

Here’s another one of our successful learner stories, and how an apprenticeship helped advance Peter’s career.

Peter is the Care Home Director and founder of Home and Community Care Ltd. In his role, he is responsible for:

  • Developing high-quality care practices
  • Promoting and implementing policies for safer, more effective care
  • Leading, managing, and supporting the professional growth of all staff
  • Ensuring compliance with CQC guidelines and codes of practice

“When making decisions, I focus on the bigger picture—the ultimate goals I want to achieve for myself, my staff, and the clients we support. I strive to promote safer care practices and continuously explore new methods of training and knowledge sharing to achieve these outcomes.”

Peter’s Career Journey

Peter entered the care sector five years ago without any prior knowledge of the Health and Social Care field or an understanding of care regulations. His journey began in 2016 when he enrolled in a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Health & Social Care – Adult with t2 group. At that time, Peter had no formal qualifications, including basic literacy and numeracy.

From the outset, Peter’s apprenticeship assessor played a pivotal role in his development, providing the tools, guidance, and support needed to expand his knowledge. This mentorship not only helped him grow professionally but also built his confidence, transforming him into a reliable, knowledgeable team member committed to best practices in care. His assessor identified areas for improvement, helping Peter strengthen his skills and empowering him to find his voice within the sector.

Determined to continue his personal and professional growth, Peter pursued a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Health & Social Care – Adult in 2018. His dedication didn’t stop there. He went on to achieve a Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care and ultimately completed a Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care and Children’s and Young People’s Settings, funded through an Advanced Learner Loan with t2 group. Armed with the confidence and qualifications gained through these experiences, Peter realised his ambition of establishing his own care company, Home and Community Care Ltd.

Peter’s Advice for Aspiring Care Professionals

Peter strongly recommends pursuing formal qualifications in Health and Social Care, maintaining a commitment to continuous learning, and seizing every opportunity for development.

“Over the past five years, I have progressed from completing my Level 2 to achieving my Level 5 qualifications. This journey has allowed me to gain invaluable knowledge and hands-on experience, from working directly in care roles to managing my own domiciliary care company. Through this process, I have developed the skills needed to be an effective manager and an inspiring leader. My qualifications in management, leadership, and Health and Social Care have equipped me to uphold best practices and ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality care. I have cherished every step of my career journey.”
