The Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care is an occupational qualification for learners who work in adult care settings in a team leader/senior role who want to develop their skills and knowledge to demonstrate competence in their advanced role.

Who is the programme for?

The Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care is an occupational qualification for learners who work in adult care settings in a team leader/senior role who want to develop their skills and knowledge to demonstrate competence in their advanced role.

How long is the programme?

The programme is delivered over a period of 12 months.

How does it work?

The programme is delivered entirely in the workplace on a one to one basis by your own dedicated assessor who meets with you face to face every month to provide individualised support. This includes teaching, training, assessment and regular reviews of your progress with you and your manager. The aim of the programme is for you to apply the new skills that you learn to improve the performance of you and your team in your workplace.

What qualifications will I achieve at the end?

At the end of the programme you will achieve a Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care.

This covers the following:

Course units
Mandatory - 12 units (36 credits) Additional Units - (min. 34 credits)

These units cover areas such as:

  • Partnership working
  • Communication skills
  • Personal development
  • Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
  • Person-centred assessment
  • Support planning
  • Personalisation
  • Professional practice
  • Safeguarding
  • Data Protection
  • Health and safety

The optional units available are designed to add flexibility to the real working context of the candidate.

Group A (min. 6 credits) consists entirely of knowledge units such as:

  • Understanding sensory loss
  • Understand dementia
  • Understanding professional management and leadership
  • Understanding public funding

Group B (min. 28 credits) consists of Performance based units such as:

  • Providing support
  • Working with families
  • Providing information
  • Developing plans
  • Assessing needs of carers and families
  • Facilitating change and development
