Level 3 Apprenticeship in Health (Clinical Healthcare Support)

About this Apprenticeship

The Level 3 Apprenticeship in Health (Clinical Healthcare Support) is designed for learners in a wide range of settings.

The Apprenticeship in Health (Clinical Healthcare Support) is for Senior Health Care Assistants working within a clinical hospital setting in Wales, providing delegated support to individuals under the direction of a registered practitioner. This Apprenticeship aims to provide the skills and knowledge required to become competent in supporting the nursing team.

To undertake this Apprenticeship, you must be employed by the Welsh Health Service in roles that provide clinical skills. In particular, you should be able to demonstrate that you:

  • can work within multidisciplinary, primary, secondary and or community teams
  • promote person-centred approaches
  • can minimise the risk of infection in health care settings within NHS Wales
  • understand the principles of safeguarding and protection
  • use communication, numeracy, and digital competency skills as appropriate within your role

During your learning period, you will build up a ‘tool kit’ of knowledge, understanding and skills in order for you to competently undertake your own role effectively. Your learning will support you to take responsibility for transferring your knowledge, understanding and skills into practice, foster independence, autonomy and the confidence needed within job roles at this level.

This programme is delivered on a one to one basis in your workplace by your own dedicated Clinical Heathcare Tutor.
